Silchar Cancer Centre Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Patriotic Fervour
Silchar, August 15, 2026: Silchar Cancer Centre, a unit of Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF), celebrated the 80th Independence Day with great enthusiasm, patriotism, and community spirit.
The celebration commenced with the national flag hoisting ceremony, followed by an impressive parade by the Centre’s security personnel. The event witnessed the presence of doctors, staff members, cancer survivors, patients, and well-wishers, all coming together to honour the nation’s independence.
A special plantation drive was organized as part of the celebration with the generous support of Lions Club of Silchar Ananta, promoting environmental sustainability and the spirit of service. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Indranil Sinha, Medical Superintendent In-Charge, highlighted the importance of unity, dedication, and compassionate healthcare in nation-building.
One of the most inspiring moments of the day was the participation of 19 cancer survivors invited by Community Outreach Team, whose presence symbolized courage, hope, and resilience. A token of appreciation was presented to the survivors by Dr. Indranil Sinha, Dr. Debosmita, Dr. Bhanupriya, Dr. Pritam, and other faculty members as a gesture of love and encouragement.
The programme also featured a vibrant cultural segment with patriotic songs (Deshbhakti Geet), creating an atmosphere of national pride among all attendees.
As part of the Centre’s commitment to patient care, food packets were distributed among nearly 24 indoor patients (IPD). The food distribution initiative was supported by Lions Club of Silchar Ananta, reflecting the spirit of community partnership and social responsibility.
An in-house Blood Donation Camp was another major highlight of the celebration. A total of 10 voluntary blood donors participated in the camp, including Dr. Indranil Sinha, demonstrating the importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Centre’s team members, expressing gratitude to all participants, supporters, and volunteers who contributed to the success of the event.
